Sickness will NEVER hold me down.

Almost been a week exactly. Hmm. I’m noticing a “Weekend Update” pattern starting to set in. Who do I think I am? Tina Fey?

Actually, I really wouldn’t mind beingΒ  Tina Fey.

I’ve decided I want to be her AND Chelsea Handler when I grow up. A love child of the two if you will. A girl can dream, right? πŸ˜€

Another irrelevant fine way to begin a post! Let’s get onto the good stuff. And by good stuff, I actually mean the complete LACK of stuff I’ve done this week due to being sick.

Headache, aches, fever, fatigue, hackinghackinghacking cough and general wonkiness as far as the eye can see. This BLACK DEATHHH (as it was lovingly named) got me, roomie, Kat and my 4 apartment girls down the hall… ALL AT THE SAME TIME. Talk about good timing eh?

It started Sunday afternoon and it hit really hard on Valentines Day of all days! I thought it was hilarious and kept saying, “This is what happens when you don’t have a man on Valentines Day, you get the flu!”

Actually, Jensen and Jared ended up being our dates. They helped, a lot.

We have special feelings about these guys… I have nothing else to say on the matter πŸ˜‰

The DEATHHH has been slowly been decreasing since then and things are beginning to return back to normal. In the spirit of normal, here’s some pictures. Sickness caused me to slack in this department. My badddddd!

You know what isn’t bad though? Trying a new Chobani flavor!

This has definitely made it’s way to the higher part of my Chobani listing. I have mixed feelings about raspberry flavored things but this was just so GOOD. I had it with half of a cut up apple and a bunch of chocolate Goldfish and it was like eating dessert the whole time! Top five Chobani flavors. Ready? GO.

(ranked from favorite to least)

  1. Pineapple
  2. Vanilla
  3. Peach
  4. Plain
  5. Raspberry

Dost thou agree or did you throw things at the screen in disgust? Let me hear your favorite flavors!

Oatmeal was definitely a good friend this week. You know, especially when I decided to not leave my room for almost two days.

I love this bowl, SO MUCH. And I also love Cate because although she might not completely understand my love for bowls, she humors me anyway ❀

  • 1/3 cup oats
  • 2/3 cup water
  • 1 tbsp flax
  • Half a banana
  • 1/3 cup cinnamon Chex
  • 1 tbsp Special K granola
  • 1 tbsp AB

With a mixture like this, it makes it hard to feel sick!

Sidenote: I miss Kashi. I’m going to steal some from Dalys.

I revisited an old friend on Thursday. It’s been a while.

Oh hello Clif Bar, fancy seeing you here! I haven’t had this flavor in a longgggg time and kind of forgot how much of a replica to real carrot cake this is. It was complete with considerably large pieces of carrot and randomly placed frosting blobs. However, it was so much sweeter than I remember it to be! My sweet tooth is a powerful being so for me to say that really does mean something. Yeehaw!

Random happy sweet potato?

Maturity level = 0%

*shifty eyes*

And, er, that’s it. Hahahahaha.

Oh wait, here’s a taste of what my food writing class has been like.

From left to right we have a piece of an Asian pear, maramite on a spoon (whoa bisky whoa) and sprigs of fresh thyme.

Sorry about the pun.

This exercise was so much harder than I thought. While I’m pretty good with words, when put on the spot to describe the taste and smell of these foods, the words were nowhere to be seen! Although slightly disheartening, it’s a completely different aspect of food and only fuels my passion for it even more. Wheeeeeee!

Have a good day everyone…… don’t get blown away though, it’s super windy out! πŸ˜€

Gone to Narnia, BRB!

Happy Sunday afternoon! I’m currently drinking Dalys coffee, not doing homework and roomie is reading fan fiction to me. Yep.

Amelia, roomie and I headed out last night to enjoy a movie date. I was quite hungry and knew lasting until dinner wasn’t in the cards…in enter, A BAR.

Mojo Honey Roasted Peanut trail mix! I love this flavor. Nuts and pretzel sticks = fantastic combination.

Not to mention it’s a relative of my favorite bar brand.

Clif bar FTW! Saved me from my hunger.

So, growing up I was never really a Narnia kind of kid (coughHARRYPOTTERcough) but after seeing the movie last night I’m seriously considering reading the books over break. I’m a sucker for fantasy stories and this certainly met my desire.

This guy’s scruffy face certainly didn’t hurt either. It was fantastic all around though and I highly recommend it πŸ˜€

Afterwards we headed to On the Border for some eats.

We had decided ahead of time that we were going to eat there so I did some research about the place before I left. It’s nice to see that a lot of places have their menus online/nutritional information online now.

What a fabulous use for those empty Corona bottle πŸ˜€

We started off with a complimentary huge basket o’ chips & salsa. Unfortunately, the chips weren’t gluten free and that was silly because corn chips shouldn’t have gluten in them. Boo.

Amelia’s hand still be creepin’ though.

Roomie and I ate our way through most of the chips. The salsa on the side had a great kick to it. I do love me some spice πŸ˜‰

I spent a good amount of time looking through the menu and decided to order one of the “Border Smart” meals.

Citrus Chipotle Chicken Salad: A delicious Border Smart alternative. Premium Pulled Chicken Breast tossed in Mango Citrus Vinaigrette with peppers, red onions, tomatoes, corn, queso fresco and crunchy jicama. Served atop fresh mixed greens.

When it comes down to it, I’m a salad kind of girl.

Not too shabby looking and it tasted pretty great too. I’m not sure if it had any dressing on it but I prefer the lightness anyway. My only gripe is that I would have loved some more orange slices….full citrus experience!

Also, Amelia discovered that she likes black beans so now whenever she goes to Chevys with her G-ma she’s just going to order a plate of them πŸ˜€

It was a lovely time oot and aboot and, as always, ha bisky worthy!

I’m thinking some yogurt and blog reading is in my near future. I do wish I had some more coffee though….Starbucks opens in an hour πŸ˜›

Want itttttttt!

Clif side view!

Using my food blog for news writing shenanigans? Done and done. I put those entries on private and am back to the norm. As much as I love stretching the horizons of my abilities, I’ll take writing about food any day. I’ve become a failure blogger once again and haven’t written about food/exercise since my 5K last week. Oops.

In order to make up for this, I decided to make this a theme entry! And what is this elusive theme you ask?

Now, Clif Bars and I have just developed a relationship recently. Back in the days of ED, I remember picking up one of these bars, see 250 calories and immediately throw it back down. That much for a bar? In my mind, it was similar to that of eating straight up fat.

I was dumb, a dumb dumb dumb dumb girl who knew absolutely nothing about anything, particularly the benefits of protein and consuming nutrients in order to sustain energy. Now, however, it’s a different story. Clif Bars and I have fallen in love and I would like to express my love with the blogworld.

Cranberries has become STOCKED with Clif Bars and I’ve had the joy of tasting a plethora of the flavors. Here’s a hundred couple reviews πŸ˜€

Carrot Cake is first on the agenda. Carrots have been my enemy for who knows how long but since coming back from winter break I suddenly started liking them out of nowhere. Now it’s at the point where I crave for them! Betacarotine… awwwwaaaaayyy!Β  I could see the pieces of carrot chillin’ in the bar (very small but they couldn’t escape me!) and the taste of actual carrot wasn’t overpoweringly there. The bar also had a nice frosting-esq. kind of deal going on. Not my super duper favorite but still VERY tasty!

I recall reading a rave review about this particular bar on one of the blogs and it’s good, damn good. My sweet tooth was extremely pleased with this delicious creation. It’s kind of chocolately, kind of nutty and kind of awesome in every sense possible. This is number one on my list of flavors I’ve tasted thus far!

What does everyone think of my book of Milton? 17th Century Literature is epic, I know! πŸ™‚

Ooooh this bar is definitely a close second. Like I just said, I’ve got a killer sweet tooth so the presence of maple in this bar brought me MUCH happiness. That’s a warning right there though, this bar is VERY sweet and I was almost at the point of feeling guilty about eating it… it was like having dessert!

Anything with almond and cherry in it is destined to be good… and it was! Nice balance of the two flavors and another win! (how do Clif Bars manage to be so consistent?!?) Hahaha.

OK, I know it seems that I’ve been saying this the entire entry but THIS is definitely one of my top favorites. To put it in simple terms, this bar tasted EXACTLY like a peanut butter cookie…… I think that speaks for itself!

And that’s all I’ve got so far. I know I have had more flavors but if there’s no picture I shall not review it! See that? Food blog mantra… TAKE PICTURES!!! Back to the main point though, Clif Bars are incredible, filling and perfect wherever you’re going and need an awesome pick-me-up snack! I plan on buying as many more as I can with the week at Rider I have left πŸ™‚

Good place to end the entry? I think so. I would like to end on this note…

I’m on a LOTR kick and have an unnatural obsession with Gimli. Have a fantastic rest of the day everyone! πŸ˜€
