Cookies, soup, dancing. Check! Check! Check!

Cookie Friday is among us… are YOU celebrating?

I know I am.

Woke up this morning and decided to bake. It was an urge and I’ve learned to never fight urges.

My urge turned into Oatmeal raisin cookies with raisins and the rest of the LaForge Trail Mix

I’m still itching to bake. Don’t be surprised to see more cookies in my post tomorrow!

The post is going backwards. It’s OK though. I’m cool with the Timelord.

😉

The return of chili was a success, as I’ve illustrated oh-so-clearly in every post for the past week, but last night, ANOTHER love of mine made it’s way back into my life.

CAULIFLOWER SOUP.

It’s not green (don’t be fooled by the lighting!) ……although, the idea of cauliflower spinach soup sounds extremely appetizing now that I think about it.

I’ve posted about my love for this soup. It’s simplicity, it’s taste and it’s creaminess. It’s ballin’ and made dinner extra awesome.

Lean hamburger on whole wheat bread with tomato, lettuce, hummus and ketchup with a side of broccoli and half a sweet potato.

I like the way broccoli photographs.

Seriously, what could be more adorable than little edible trees?

Hey wait, broccoli/cauliflower/spinach soup?!?! Now THAT sounds incredible. Just imagine… it would be super super green! I’m thinking that’s something worth pursuing soon!

This morning, I changed the usual everyday oats and had a yogurt bowl instead! It was a nice change from my fairly time consuming breakfast.

(And it still photographed beautifully, of course)

In zee bowl:

  • Half of a microwaved chopped up apple with cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup vanilla Chobani
  • 1/3 cup multigrain Cheerios
  • 1/3 cup Cinnamon Chex (they taste EXACTLY like Cinnamon Toast Crunch, I kid you not)
  • 1 tbsp Special K granola
  • 1 tsp stirred in AB

Enjoyed while watching the most recent show of Top Chef. My bisky, this been one of my favorite shows for a VERY long time. This season, I’m rooting for Richard Blais…. I was a fan of him back in season 2 and am still a huge fan!

Any Top Chef fans out there? I know there are… you know, us being food bloggers and all 😀

I’ve been neglecting the exercise aspect of my life. In a nutshell, running is still out of the picture but it’s been OK. The bike and I have become fairly good friends.

I told you the bike was old. I’m almost positive it’s older than I am. Whatevs, I drag it into my room and zone out…. today I zoned out for 80 minutes while reading my nutrition book. Hooray…. I still really miss running though. Sigh.

However, my new favorite way to exercise is to dance in my room like a complete MANIAC for an hour straight. I enjoy dancing, what can I say? 😀

Imagine my head on this guy’s body.

I’m ending this post with photos of my inspirational boards. I first read about the idea on Gina’s blog and fell in love with the idea. In my youth I made collages like it was no one’s business so this project was right up my alley!

I highly recommend for everyone to make one. It’s a wonderful feeling every time you look at it, not to mention it’s an aesthetically pleasing motivator! I also made a simple one specifically for running.

2011 is all about performing beautifully and just generally showcasing inner beauty in an all-around way. Live up to the highest potential and, as Apolo would say, have zero regrets! It’s important to always have a reminder of that and that’s one of the things I love about these boards.

Make one! It’ll do ya good 😀

P.S.

I just want to thank the peeps who comment on my posts and that you actually come back to read them. You make me feel like this.

❤

The kitchen is always open!

Merry Christmas Eve everyone! Hope it’s been filled with fun and family-ness and food and all that good stuff. My day has certainly been filled, that’s for sure.

Let me indulge you.

Woke up to this

Good morning nephew… he posed like this for me when I took my camera out.

The fruit hiatus has been temporarily remedied… my mom bought me cherries of all things. Talk about random! Appreciated, but still random.

Cherries are red though, hooray for the Christmas spirit and adding to my oats.

These oats were VERY liquid-y, too much H20!

  • 1/3 cup oats
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 10 cherries
  • 1/3 cup multigrain Cheerios
  • 1 tsp WCPB
  • 2 tsp PB

Still tasty though!

The rest of my day included the following things:

Giant bowl of fluffy marshmallows.

Giant pans of rice krispy treats

Work those arm muscles Nana!

Lots of saturated fats

Lots of them

They’re taking over our kitchen I tell you! RESISTANCE IS FUTILE.

I made some dough… not the green kind though.

MOAR PHILLY SPRITES. YES.

And MOAR chocolate chip cookies!

It took all the will power I possess not to shove my face in the bowl.

Don’t worry, I baked the raw dough and didn’t ingest it

MOAR! With the addition of coconut which turned out to be INCREDIBLE.

But alas, the sprites hold my heart.

….I love you.

I feel the same way about these cookies that I do about Matt Smith.

Sometimes, I need to keep my hormones OUT of the blog posts. 😉

I think it’s safe to assume that official Cookie Friday has been embraced and THEN some

Oh yes, it has.

I ate linner at some point

English muffin with turkey, swiss cheese and a hummus/mustard combo. And some carrots on the side for a good crunch.

Later we all scooted to church and the priest talked about Toy Story 3 during his sermon.

I personally approved of such a decision.

And then, we came home and ate pizza with peppers and onions.

It feel upside down and there I dubbed it to have “character”…. side salad with balsalmic accompanied it.

Currently my parents are running around out kitchen making nut cups and egg strata and there’s a pile of bread sitting next to me right now.

Well…. it’s 9 o’clock already….I need to be a-scootin’ again. Still need to wrap a bunch of presents and finish making some CDs! No blogging tomorrow but there will a TON of pictures to share so until then……

Merry Christmas everyone! ❤

If you give a Keribop a cookie…

This was one of my FAVORITE books as a kid.  That mouse and his silly shenanigans and, of course, the cookies. Childhood Keribop loved cookies…and desserts….and food…..suddenly, my adult habits make a lot more sense now. Anyone else love this book as much as I did?

(I figured out how to make words BIG and what better way to showcase this than with a more-than-appropriate….)

COOKIE SEQUENCE!

(Legless… Legolas?!)

(Bowling pin)

This week’s celebration of Cookie Friday officially started on Thursday. Dalys decided that it was time for for Christmas and produced gingerbread cookies (see above!)

These cookies were GOOD. Like really good. Sometimes that place surprises me and this was definitely one of those times. Instead of being crunchy and tasteless, these were perfectly soft and had a strong cinnamon flavor.

And when dipped in peppermint soft-serve ice cream?

Fugettaboutit. 😀

SIDENOTE: I saw a boy in Dalys who had just made waffles and when he sat down at his table he TOOK A PICTURE OF HIS FOOD.  I don’t know who he was or why he really did it but it made me monumentally happy. I want to be friends with that mystery boy now.

I think you can guess what cookie was the star of Friday.

Gingerbread cookie and pumpkin spice latte. Can’t get any more winter associated than that.

I’ve been dipping a lot lately.

And it feels so good 😉

Other people don’t feel the same way I do about Cookie Friday

THE HORROR!!! THE COOKIE MURDERING HORROR!

Ahem, that was acting. Thank you.

It’s OK though. Dalys had asparagus.

Good way to end the celebration I think.

Get yo veggies on, get yo veggies on.

OK, clearly I’m having too much fun with the giant font. That’s probably my cue to leave. I’m off to enjoy Narnia and Mexican food with the ladies…. enjoy the rest of the day everybody!

I think if he had a cookie up there too it would all be acceptable 😀

Sweetness

Did anyone else notice that WordPress was snowing all over the place? Somebody is well into the spirit of the season! Good for you WordPress!

I’ve fallen behind and when I looked through the pictures I wanted to put in this post I realized that there’s a lot of sweet tooth items. Whoops!

Apples are sweet…. especially when they’re not covered in dents!

And I’m completely sweet at using the soft-serve machine. Legit, I make ’em perfect every time.

Maybe over winter break I’ll get a job at an ice cream shop…

Thursday night was the LAST Senior Pub Night and it turned out to be quite a hoot and a half. Dancing and drinking and ridiculousness and also became aware of the fact that an intoxicated me is quite the ballsy chick. 😉

I also have a moral to go along with this. It IS possible to go and have a blast at Senior Pub Night and STILL get a good grade on a major test the next morning. Just saying 😀

Couldn’t resist a celebration cookie….

Sugaaaaaaah.

And that night Dalys continued the sweetness theme that apparently had become my life. In enters the chocolate fountain that sometimes makes an appearance.

Kat and I shared this plate. Although it looks quite nice it was mostly a letdown. The eclairs were typical and chocolate and marshmallows were fantastic. However,  the strawberries were mushy and that little square of bread (pumpkin spice bread I believe) was dry as anything.

It caused us to revert back to childhood impulses and literally play with our food.

It’s a farm scene. Don’t you see it?

Next day was a lovely adventure that included a cardio charged workout (50 minutes on the elliptical and 2 miles on the treadmill) super long tours of the surrounding Rider area, shopping for lumber at Home Depot and stupid camp. Also….

My egg wrap actually stayed together! Nestled inside:

  • Egg
  • Ham
  • Tomato
  • Feta
  • Spinach
  • Carrots

Hooray!

Furthermore… my roommate enjoys this

Nicely arranged loofahs.

And collectively we enjoy Panera.

Sometimes I can’t help myself and get the broccoli cheddar soup despite all other logic. It’s just so good…. BCS triumphs over health knowledge. NOM.

On the side I had half of a turkey sandwich and a little tiny apple.

Later later… we sat in Starbucks for 2 hours and talked… and talked….and talked.

Pumpkin Spice glory…. and don’t you forget it.

And my weekend is ending with homework, endless amounts of room-made coffee and hip hop songs out the wazoo. Successful times all around I think!

Enjoy the rest of the night everyone! ❤

P.S.

Sometimes… my roomie finds me new workout gear for $2.50. Pink palm trees anyone?

Cowabunga! 😀

Winter joy

Still camera-less but I’m trying to make the best of it. Hopefully my charger will be back in my possession soon!

Thanks to Tina we now have a weekly holiday… the wonder of all wonders that is COOKIE FRIDAY! So what better way to celebrate than with a trip to the ole’ campus Starbucks. Check it out, the red cups  are officially official AND it’s time for their yearly Christmas flavors!

Eggnog, peppermint mocha and gingerbread! Have I ever mentioned how much I LOVE the winter?!?!

Never had the eggnog (and really have no desire to?), wasn’t a fan of the peppermint (maybe I need to give it another try?) so gingerbread was the winner.

Mmmm. Tastes like cold weather and snow 🙂

Kat generously shared a piece of her shortbread cookie with me.

To be honest, I forgot what a shortbread cookie tasted like. Buttery and very melt-in-your-mouth esq.

Later that night we continued the cookie friday celebration in the form of Supernatural and a tin of biscotti

Heh.

Like I said, an entire TIN of cookies!

Pretty sure I ate at least five of them. It was a holiday though, right? 😉

And this morning, despite my absolute best efforts to prevent it, I been infected with the common cold. Guess who’s not the happiest of campers about it?

Yeah, I’m being a weiner about it.

Hopefully this sickness won’t last too long. While everyone else is out celebrating Rider’s Family Weekend I’m sitting here watching House and drinking raspberry tea (which I may or may not have fallen in love with!).

I forsee a nice bowl of comforting oatmeal in my future. Enjoy the day everyone!

Friday means cookies and granola.

Happy Friday my blog lovelies! It’s an absolutely BEAUTIFUL day outside and I’ve got to make this post fairly quick. I’m heading back to North Jersey today with Mandy and Kat and we’re going to NEW YORK CITY COMIC CON TOMORROW!!!

One Comic Con wasn’t enough. It’s too addictive. That’s going to be a fun post to, er, post!

Breakfasts as of yesterday and today!

(Ignore the strawberry stews…and the random blob of Nutella.)

I’ve realized that as time goes on my desire to make my food pretty is getting stronger. It would appear that strawberries and bananas look absolutely lovely together!

Well, OK, not everything can be super pretty. Like when it comes to OIAJ, the tastiness is the first priority!

Another jar bites the dust! This time it was the Blue Diamond AB with honeyyyy. A fine jar he was! Into the jar went:

  • 3/4 banana
  • 2/3 cup oats
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 tbsp Cherry Vanilla Granola (!!)
  • Multigrain Cheerios

I FINALLY got to crack open some of my Nutty Guys products!

Dear Cheerios… GET OUT OF THE WAY.

Oh look at the poor darlings trying to escape.

Even if you can’t see them just believe my words… SO AMAZING.

I think I have fallen in love with the granola. It’s out of this world. I love things that are cherry flavored and with this granola you don’t get the taste immediately but after chewing it for a few seconds it’s like WHOA. I would definitely buy this again from them, coupon or not!

Today’s lunch was typical. Delicious with lots and Dalys fun. 😀

  • Burger
  • Carrots
  • Peppers
  • Spinach
  • Hummus
  • Feta
  • Tomatoes

Easy easy!

AND, in the spirit of Tina, I celebrated cookie friday!

Chocolate rocky road cookie from Dalys was calling my name. Normally I can ignore the desserts but to this guy I couldn’t say no. I’m glad I did. Cookies are one of the best things to ever exist. Yay cookie friday!

And that’s all I’ve got. I’m running a little behind now and have to pack all my gear!

I won’t be posting until Sunday so until then! Have a fabulous weekend everyone! ❤
