September has arrived.

Exactly one year ago today was my first day of my last year of college. I had a purpose and that was to enjoy being a senior without  the worries of what the “real world” had in store from me.

Nothing but fancy sweet potatoes for a whole year. It was nice and felt very safe. Safe in that way that you can’t be bothered to worry about what the future had in store. OK, fast forward now. NOW, the same people I was being a hooligan with just last year now have real jobs with salaries and benefits. NOW, they’re graduate students pursuing further education. As for myself? I’m sitting here twiddling my thumbs for now; the waiting game is my current thing right now.

That’s not to say that I haven’t been doing anything. I’ve been doing, er, stuff.

Cantaloop and mango whilst pondering over a cookbook. When in doubt, bake!

My original plan was to combine recipes and make peanut butter pinwheel cookies with chocolate and pretzels. I followed the steps for normal pinwheel cookies, rolling out the dough, adding the fillings and chilling it in the fridge for a few hours. However, when I took the giant log out to cut into slices they just kept falling apart. So, I lumped it all together in a bowl and went the more classic route.

Next time I make them I’ll split the dough in half, add LESS filling and maybe even stick the log in the freezer. Cookie making is an art form. Don’t get it twisted.

An old friend returned from forbidden forest.

Looking bubbly there Magic Bullet. Bubbly like champagne. Champagne is classy. Therefore, Magic Bullet, you are classy.

What we’ve got here:

  • Frozen mango and strawberries
  • Fresh Mango
  • Greek yogurt
  • Vanilla protein powder
  • Water
  • A wee bit of agave nectar

Topped with some multigrain Cheerios and fashioned in my ever-helpful positive affirmation bowl. SIAB will always be there for me. BFF4L.

Other random things of randomness

Otis was creepin’

Serena actually wasn’t trying to smother the dog

I actually can’t help but go AWWWWWWW everytime I look at these. Way to be gooey LaForge.

Chubby Chubby thinks he’s hilarious and was like, “MAKE SURE TO TAKE A PICTURE OF THE HUGE MEAL YOU’RE ABOUT TO EAT”…..clever.

This is just a teaser of a post to come. When it comes to the topic of running, I have LOTS of things to say and need to dedicate a completely different post to it. Oh baby believe me, it’s going to be good.

Lastly, to revert back to the gooey stuff for a moment

Looks who is starting her first day of middle school today! She’s a legit 6th grader now. I remember being in 6th grade…that was a weird time. Check out the bows on her, they just scream, “I’m ready for schoooooool!” Well, except she wasn’t. Pigtails are deceiving. Either way, my little buckethead is moving up in the world. Le sigh.

That’s all she, um, I, wrote. It’s pouring out but not humid so I’m thinking of a taking myself out for a nice rainy run. Guess we shall see.

Have a fabulous day everyone and good luck to everyone else starting school/new jobs! Rock it out 😀

Job hunting is sucky and even How I Met Your Mother is about resumes and being unemployed. So much for using TV as an escape from real life.

You’re lucky you’re perfect sir.

Still, the job thing is hitting me hard. What I’m going to do with my life is nonexistent and I’m starting to get stressed out again. It’s like having deadlines all over again and I feel more useless the longer I go being without a job. My anxiety is getting in the way too. I could easily be a waitress but my fear of people is keeping me from doing it. It’s frustrating but I’m trying to keep optimistic.

FACT: You know something isn’t quite right when you actually consider the idea of stripping to make money. That wouldn’t work on a couple different levels...but that’s besides the point. No, I’m not going to strip for money but I contemplated it.

Oooooh self-worth, you have officially and completely left the building. Let’s move on, shall we?

I feel that GIFs of Misha Collins instantly make everything in life better. Especially when he’s winking….mmmmmmm.

Max and I don’t share the same views about how attractive men are when they wink.

Like I said yesterday, even with a camera in my possession now I STILL keep forgetting to take pictures. Breakfast keeps falling through despite my infinite love for it. Eh, I’ll just leave a sticky note for myself tomorrow. No biggie.

Aaaaaand, there’s the 13 year-old boy. Case in point, another reason why I can’t be a stripper.

Um, I resurrected the old favorite of SIAB!

  • Half a banana
  • 5 strawberries
  • 1/2 cup mango
  • A scoop of vanilla protein powder
  • 1/2 cup milk

I got to break out the Magic Bullet…. MY GOOD FRIEND HOW I’VE MISSED YOU SO! I topped the bowl with 1/3 cup of Cheerios and had at it. The smoothie was thicker than usual (TWSS) and it must have been because of the lack of liquid. Usually I throw in water along with the mix but now I know.

Less smoothie more soup!

Cas help me but here’s a picture of dinner

*shifty eyes*

Yep, this is #5. There was beef sitting in our fridge, my dad wanted to use all of it for meat sauce and before I could stop myself….there was a Swiss pita burger in front of me. On the side I had a huge pile of romaine and a cut-up carrot and broccoli.

I need to interrupt myself to give a shout out to whole wheat pitas. At Rider I lived off these things and thought we had said our official goodbyes when I graduated. And then I found them at Corrados…for 99 cents a pack….I made Chubby buy four. They’re perfect for freezing and, in my opinion, are the ideal 150 calorie dose of healthy carbs. I’ll post the name of the brand tomorrow so everyone can experience the happiness too!

Lack of pictures, overabundance of less-than-awesome topics and TMI about stripping. But look… I’m posting consecutively two days in a row!

It’s all worth it though…and you know why? Beeeeeecauseeeee

No nutrient neglect here!

It’s cold. I usually don’t complain about it but my circulation-less hands aren’t too happy.

I’m wearing my fingerless gloves as I type this post. Best invention ever. But still, brr.

Recaps of my past days:

I figured out two things about my failure rice/bean/veggie burgers:

  1. They taste better the next day after being in the fridge for a while
  2. Like everything else in life, it’s so much better in sandwich form

A piece of whole wheat bread with salsa, lettuce and hummus fixed it right up! Also had a kiwi and a carrot stick on the side, although they’re unpictured. Don’t worry though, I’m not neglecting them!

I have most certainly NOT been neglecting kiwis. That’s for sure.

And I like to photograph them the exact same way.

Carrots have been in my life quite a bit also

AB + carrot = one of the purest loves there is ❤

Remember the cardboard (remember the Alamo?!)

WCPB, granola and vanilla yogurt. Epic.

Sometimes I doubt the power of being hungry. Example. Yesterday I went to run 5 miles and ate half of a Clif bar an hour before I left. I hadn’t eaten since about 7 the previous night. Maybe that’s what did it but when I got to 2.5 miles I had to stop and walk.

That may have been the closest thing to passing out I have ever experienced. My legs suddenly felt like lead and I got seriously lightheaded. All the while I feel like my stomach is eating itself. It was the strangest thing. I stopped and walked about half a mile and then ran the rest of the way, completely fine.

No clue what actually was the cause of it. Lack of food, the cold/hot combination? The only thing I know for sure is that I just have to pay attention to all aspects of my running more closely.

An SIAB helped me feel better!

  • Blueberries
  • Half a banana
  • PB powder
  • Vanilla Chobani
  • Vanilla protein powder
  • Flax seed
  • Topped with Cheeriossss

It was gone in 5 minutes flat. NOM.

Yogurt bowls are awesome (I ate this todayyyyy)

Pineapple Chobani, trail mix and Special K. Double NOM.

EVERYONE wants to be on the blog for some reason. Guys, I hope you know that I’m not famous or anything….I get maybe 20 views a day! I appreciate the enthusiasm though; it warms my heart 🙂

With that being said, here is Serena’s slice of Italian bread with lasagna on it.

Er, pardon her dirty fingers…. attractivepicturessaywhat?!?

And random but more proof to showcase how adorable my mom is.

Sometimes she draws pictures of snowmen while she’s talking on the phone. Teehee.

And that’s it. My plans include eating a sandwich for dinner, finally blog reading, responding to Sam’s message (hi Sam! I miss you!) and eat some sweet potato oatmeal cookies (coughtomorrow’spostcough) 😀

Enjoy the night everyone!

I feel it absolutely necessary to  mention that I watched over 15 episodes of Doctor Who the other day. I’m proud. Very proud. Just saying.

Oh my bisky. I love him. So much.

Sorry, hormones got into the post again.

My bad.

Or is it? 😉

Definitely feeling like a housewife

Well bisky I’ve been all over the place for the past 3 hours! By that I mean cleaning and laundry doing. Homework was on the agenda but then I got distracted and here I am!

Picture packed post ahead! Spleee!

I love squash

Dalys has been quite the squash fest lately and it’s been good every time I’ve had it. I for one am and certainly not complaining about it. Squash everyday is A-OK!

I tried a new type of coffee yesterday

Apologies for the phone picture but YES, cinnamon toast flavored! It legit DID taste like a piece of cinnamon toast and was quite lovely with skim milk.

I may or may not have gotten a shot of espresso in it as well… caffeine kick yesterday. What can I say? 😉

This morning I got up and ran a 10K because I had a desire to. I haven’t run that far of a distance in a while and it felt good. Amazingly good. So good that I’ve been feeling awesome all day. How does running manage to do that?

MAGIC, yes?!

Breakfast was a SIAB, all the way across the sky.

  • A scoop of whey protein powder
  • Half of a frozen banana
  • 1/4 cup plain greek yogurt
  • A whole bunch of cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tbsp flax seed

The decorations included Multigrain Cheerios (art thou sick of them yet?), 2 tbsp VCG and someone I’ve been saving for a while now…

SUNFLOWER BUTTER. I got this packet back when I ran the Teterboro 5K and have been saving it for some reason. I used half of it yesterday and finished it up today.

I forgot how much I love sunflower butter.

Like, a lot. I’m talking possibly top 2 on my favorite nut butter list. That’s how much.

The SIAB was bitchin’ by the by. That addition of cinnamon mixed really well with the banana and yogurt and gave the whole thing this incredible flavor. Fabulous!

Lunch was lovely.

Dalys had corn and okra and I definitely was shocked to see the okra… the only time I’ve seen it at Dalys is fried. Talk about a lovely change!

My plate consisted of:

  • Corn and okra (I decided I’m a fan of cooked okra, so mushy and delicious!)
  • Grilled chicken
  • A wee bit o’ hummus
  • 1 tbsp feta
  • Spinach
  • Tomatoes
  • Quinoa!

Kat asked me what quinoa was and I couldn’t explain it to her; all I knew what that it’s a super healthy form of carbohydrate. Whoops! It appears that someone needs to brush up on her foodie knowledge!

Sam grabbed a pretzel as we left Dalys and look what the shape of it was!

(I do love making my friends model their food for me)

A ribbon in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month and with pink salt! I can’t think of a better cause to make a pretzel about…protect the boobies!

It’s already almost time to go to dinner! 😀

I successfully made CHIA PUDDING and I’m in love. Tomorrow’s post will tell all the gossip of my scandalous new love affair 😉

You spin me right round baby, right round!

It’s humid out and apparently there is a possible tornado warning in effect? Not going to lie, I have my mental fingers crossed that my night class will get canceled because of the warning. Probably not but it’s always fun to hope!

You know what’s not fun? Salads that have too much dressing on them.

Asian sesame chicken over romaine with mandarin oranges, pecans and fiber twigs, sounds awesome right? Normally it is. I’ve gotten this more times than I can count but yesterday there was a puddle of dressing at the bottom of the container. About 3/4 in I started picking out the lettuce and ended up eating the rest of the chicken/oranges. Poor, poor lettuce!

Lesson learned though. Ask for dressing on the side from now on. Tada!

Dinner at Dalys is almost always a hoot. There were pierogies. My roomie likes pierogies.

She went back for a second plate and ended up stuffing a bunch of them into paper cups to take back to the room. Girl doesn’t mess around!

My dinner didn’t feature any pierogies but was still delicious.

Piled onto my plate:

  • Roasted peppers
  • Spinach
  • Carrots
  • Turkey
  • Tomatoes
  • Edamame
  • A sweet potato topped with black bean salsa and feta
  • Hummus

Sometimes I’m really hungry and made veggie mountains. It happens.

This morning I headed to the gym for some easy elliptical time (while I read Men’s Health…for the pictures articles!) and some strength stuff. Then I came back I decided to finally make something I’ve been craving for a while.

I’ll give you a hint.

If you guess a SIAB then you should get out of my brain because you are correct! It was all I thought about this morning and it was about time!

I’m sort of in love with the bullet blender. Into the mix went:

  • Frozen banana pieces
  • 1/2 a peach
  • 1 tbsp flax-seed
  • 3/4 scoop vanilla protein powder
  • Maybe 1/4 cup plain yogurt
  • 1/2 cup water

Whirl, whirl, whirl, whirl, whirl (tornado reference?)

Ready for transfer and decorations!

Aside from my tsp of AB (anyone surprised?) I finally finished up this fella

I bought this from Target a good while ago and managed to get a bunch of servings from it. So good, so chocolate-y and a great crunch that’s quite similar to actual biscotti.

This SIAB was perfect and just what I had wanted it to be. The granola added a great texture to the smoothie and I forgot what a great combination peach/banana is! Not to mention the AB formed a ball and was a lovely present for the end of the bowl 😀

I have to head to class in 20 minutes so here’s something to think about.

All Quaker Oats Squares are not created equal! 😀

Not quite Friday yet but I think I’ve finally found some time to post a little bit of bloggie goodness!

I’ve returned back to Rider land and am quite content with that. Been getting back into the groove of classes, gym-ness, eats, friends and all that jazz! Here’s some of the highlights of spring break, just for kicks!

Oh look… a panda! Cate’s fiance brought a box of these little fellas back from Singapore and I just to try them. Very mmmm worthy and with a hint of coconut flavor!

I’m kind of in love with this picture! What could be better than a SIAB and Kurt Vonnegut?!?!? I dare someone to tell me that this is not in fact a breakfast fit for a champion 😉

My mom was gracious enough to have Greek yogurt waiting for me when I first came home for break (isn’t she the best?!) Brown Cow has been creepin’ around on a few blogs and now it has arrived here. I’m a Choboni girl at heart but this cow definitely did not disappoint. There wasn’t an overwhelming amount of fruit on the bottom so the fruit-to-yogurt balance was perfect!

AND they were on sale so guess who will be nom-ing on Brown Cow for a while? 😀

WHOLE.FOODS.CANNOLIS. Oh my Merlin, they were so delicious and I had to seriously restrain myself from eating the entire box (I had half of one instead!)

The cannolis were at our house because of Cate’s birthday and after the yum fest I accompanied her out to a real bar for drinks and fun shenanigans. No drunk-face for this girl though, I drove the birthday girl home! It was still a super fabulous time and I’m super happy I finally got to go!

Me, Cate (slister!) and Miss Basia (longtime friend and awesome person all around)

I shall finish this post with what was, without-a-doubt, the best thing that happened during break.

Could it be?

I ran 6 miles. 9:23 pace. No stopping. No pain. And in UNDER an hour.

It was true and complete euphoria. Words cannot describe how amazing it was… my upcoming races aren’t going to stand a chance!

I think that’s a very proper way to end the post. I only have happiness to give everyone…. enjoy the rest of the night and I shall be posting again SOON! ❤
