…with the power to MELT!

Happy Cookie Friday everyone! Alas, it’s Friday and guess who STILL has work to take care of?

Yep. This guy right here.

 

It’s already been such whirlwind. Usually I’ve been pretty good at not letting myself get too stressed out (I’ve got hippie blood) but this week has turned my brain into mush.

 

Bisky, where do I even begin?

 

Well, alright. So Wednesday was devoted to my hip-hop paper. I was up, worked out (elliptical + a bunch of strength stuff) and then by 11 I was stationed in Cranberrys. Check out the mug on this one…

Actually, I was looking around to make sure now one saw me taking pictures of myself. Also, I’m aware that Clif bar does not equal breakfast. It was one of those times though that my work came first.

 

Don’t fret though, my lunch totally made up for it!

 

A GIANT Asian Chicken Salad. I don’t know what it was but this was easily the best one I’ve had all year. TONS of chicken/pecans and barely any dressing. Maybe the chefs put more time into things because there’s less people? Either way, it was legitimate perfection.

Exactly what I was craving and exactly what I needed to get my butt into gear!

 

Fast forward to 4:30. I’ve been in Cranberrys the entire time and am starting to get stir crazy. The thing is, my topic for hip-hop was so incredibly interesting (Homophobia in the hip-hop culture and the myth of the gay rapper) so I keep pushing through until I decided to actually move and eat with Kat in Dalys.

 

I didn’t even realize I was hungr but then we got there and I realized I was. So I may or may not have LOADED up.

  • Sweet potato
  • Cantaloop
  • Carrots
  • Tomatoes
  • Hummus
  • Feta
  • Spinach
  • Cooked mushrooms/green peppers

After wasting as much time as possible I headed BACK to Cranberrys at around 6:00.

 

Fast forward to 10. I’ve got hip-hop information pouring out of my ears, eyes, nose and pores, this random guy and his roommate decide that they wanted to be friends me, I drank a Red Bull for the first time in more than a year and I was S.O.S.-ing on Facebook for booze and a life jacket.

It was then I called it quits. The next morning I got up, did some hardcore revising/some other work and then I celebrated.

 

And what better way to do so than by cracking open a new jar of almond butter? Not just any almond butter mind you…..

Oh, 26 ounces?

 

YES, TWENTY-SIX OUNCES. We’re talking the big guns here. Almond butter for the truly obsessed.

My parents bought THREE of these the last time they went to Costco. Apppppparently the cost was under 6 bucks and that is the best deal of a lifetime considering the normal jars cost that amount! Nut butters = INFINITE LOVE.

It was getting close to lunch so I kept it small:

  • 1/4 cup oats
  • 1 tbsp plain Chobani
  • 1 tbsp applesauce
  • 1/4 cup Kashi
  • A fabulous drizzling of AB

Sidenote: My serving of 1/4 cup of oats turned into 1/8 when it exploded in the microwave! I have no clue why it happened but I “waaaaah’d” about it for a while. See that bit on the mug handle? EVIDENCE!

 

Lunch was fancy. Dalys had ACORN SQUASH! WTF?! Not that I’m complaining or anything… I was just wondering what the special occasion was. Hahaha.

Topped with cranberries tasted AMAZING, BTW. I’m definitely going to get my hands on some while I’m home.

You feta believe it.

Dinner was exactly the same as the day before except I had a whole wheat pita.

Mmmmmmm, carbs โค

 

Gym this morning = 4.5 mile run, squats, crunches. BAM.

 

Breakfast was the usual oatmeal combo (oats, banana, cinammon, water, chia seeds) and topped with some mmmmmmelt!

I LOVE when AB is melty… like how I like my men.

 

I mean come on, check out that body… bow chicka wow wow!

 

 

Ahem, sometimes I’m inappropriate and then I have to calm down my 12 year old self because she suddenly wanted to Youtube Kablam! and I told her no.

 

Ummmmm, my lunch had broccoli, oddly shaped turkey and icky cornbreadย  in it?

VERY upset about the cornbread. It’s an indulgence that I absolutely LOVE.

Nope. It was dry, crumbly and just plain awful. Sadness.

 

Everything’s alright though. I’ve got a beautiful French man singing on repeat in my Itunes and hopefully I’ll find a cookie at some point today. Optimism my friends, ’tis glorious.

Definitely feeling like a housewife

Well bisky I’ve been all over the place for the past 3 hours! By that I mean cleaning and laundry doing. Homework was on the agenda but then I got distracted and here I am!

I love squash

Dalys has been quite the squash fest lately and it’s been good every time I’ve had it. I for one am and certainly not complaining about it. Squash everyday is A-OK!

I tried a new type of coffee yesterday

Apologies for the phone picture but YES, cinnamon toast flavored! It legit DID taste like a piece of cinnamon toast and was quite lovely with skim milk.

I may or may not have gotten a shot of espresso in it as well… caffeine kick yesterday. What can I say? ๐Ÿ˜‰

This morning I got up and ran a 10K because I had a desire to. I haven’t run that far of a distance in a while and it felt good. Amazingly good. So good that I’ve been feeling awesome all day. How does running manage to do that?

MAGIC, yes?!

Breakfast was a SIAB, all the way across the sky.

  • A scoop of whey protein powder
  • Half of a frozen banana
  • 1/4 cup plain greek yogurt
  • A whole bunch of cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tbsp flax seed

The decorations included Multigrain Cheerios (art thou sick of them yet?), 2 tbsp VCG and someone I’ve been saving for a while now…

SUNFLOWER BUTTER. I got this packet back when I ran the Teterboro 5K and have been saving it for some reason. I used half of it yesterday and finished it up today.

I forgot how much I love sunflower butter.

Like, a lot. I’m talking possibly top 2 on my favorite nut butter list. That’s how much.

The SIAB was bitchin’ by the by. That addition of cinnamon mixed really well with the banana and yogurt and gave the whole thing this incredible flavor. Fabulous!

Lunch was lovely.

Dalys had corn and okra and I definitely was shocked to see the okra… the only time I’ve seen it at Dalys is fried. Talk about a lovely change!

My plate consisted of:

  • Corn and okra (I decided I’m a fan of cooked okra, so mushy and delicious!)
  • Grilled chicken
  • A wee bit o’ hummus
  • 1 tbsp feta
  • Spinach
  • Tomatoes
  • Quinoa!

Kat asked me what quinoa was and I couldn’t explain it to her; all I knew what that it’s a super healthy form of carbohydrate. Whoops! It appears that someone needs to brush up on her foodie knowledge!

Sam grabbed a pretzel as we left Dalys and look what the shape of it was!

A ribbon in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month and with pink salt! I can’t think of a better cause to make a pretzel about…protect the boobies!

 

It’s already almost time to go to dinner! ๐Ÿ˜€

I successfully made CHIA PUDDING and I’m in love. Tomorrow’s post will tell all the gossip of my scandalous new love affair ๐Ÿ˜‰

Repetitious but delicious

Good evening everyone! It’s a late kinda post but that’s how I roll sometimes. We’re heading out to pub night in a couple hours so I figured some blogging would be good!

Food wise, I’ve been getting a ton of fabulous pictures and have been tasting many a tasty things! Like my lunch yesterday for instance.

I was unable to resist getting another asian sesame chicken salad but instead opted for a small one instead. I’m SO going to be doing this from now on! There was so little dressing and TONS of oranges and it made me super happy.

I ate the Lunabar a little while later and, in case I never said this

Chocolate Peppermint Stick is one of my favorite flavors EVER. I never used to like the taste of peppermint but now? I’m in love.

Fast forward through class and it was time for a quick dinner before Sam and I headed off to yoga.

It felt weird eating fruit with dinner, go figure. I had a sweet potato with black bean salsa, baby carrots, snap peas, pineapple and cantaloop. It was light enough but still was filling and energy inducing!

YOGA WAS GREAT. Let me give you some points as to why:

  • Although it was easier than last week, the poses were still great
  • We did warrior 1 and 2 AND triangle pose AND tree pose AND a lot more downward dogs! All my favorite poses!
  • I really do feel like my flexibility is getting better and I can’t help but be reallyyyy proud of myself for it
  • My hamstrings aren’t sore anymore. I am a full believer now that yoga is guarenteed to make anyone feel better
  • Sam loved the class too! I’m so glad she came with me and now we’re making it into a weekly thing. Yay!

My love for yoga is growing even more now and I honestly want to practice more times a week, even if it’s just in my room. Practice makes perfect!

Small snack post-yoga

Dates, Quaker Oats Squares and PB.

Today has been rainy and humid and very ick out. But alas, my food brightens up life as it should!

Breakfast:

Kashi, half a banana, some cranberries, a few pecans and vanilla soy milk. Simple and sweet.

I don’t know how often I’m going to be taking pictures of my lunches and dinners considering I get kind of repetitious with things.

Broccoli, string beans, sweet potato, carrots and a veggie burger topped with tomato. I don’t know if Rider makes their own veggie burgers or just uses already made ones but either way, they’re super good! Rice, corn, beans and a generally good flavor!

Sam found THIS outside of the Fine Arts building

Mini-strawberry! Awwww, so sweet.

There was a squash medley at dinner today! I LOVE squash medleys!

Derrrr, you can’t really see it but I swear it’s there. On the plate we had:

  • Carrots
  • Squash medley
  • Spinach
  • Peppers
  • A few mozzerella balls
  • Hummus
  • Tomatoes
  • A piece of grilled chicken

And with a slice of whole wheat bread to round it all out. Like I said, it’s going to get repetitous. I need to experiment more me thinks!

Also at dinner today, we were face with the puzzling question of what exactly THIS was:

Coloring and smell of an apple and feel of a nectarine. Odd. Kat cut it on open and we discovered this

A peach pit! The weird thing is though, this thing tasted like an apple mixed with a plum and a nectarine (if you can believe that!) Has Rider been accepting cross-bred food without our knowledge? Are we guineu pigs new hybrid fruit? Who knows. It was weird. Tasty, but weird.

Bah! It’s 8:35 and I have to start getting ready. There’s going to be many a picture taking from this night, I can tell you that much!
